“We are afraid…”
When Moosa and Harun (as) were tasked with speaking to Pharaoh, they were prepared. Allah had given Moosa the miracles he needed. He was of the most special prophets and with whom Allah spoke to directly. Indeed, Moosa and Harun were both prophets, and close to God. They were on truth, and obeying Allah. Yet, they said,
"We are afraid."
They had all the means, and full trust in Allah. Still, their task was truly difficult and dangerous. And they were afraid.
The Qur'an does not idealize. It shows us raw, real human emotions: "we are afraid."
And what did Allah say?
إني معكما
"I am with you."
He did not chastize them, but simply reminded them of what they already knew. And at the end, that is what matters - that Allah was with them. It did not mean that there would not be any tests or struggles. Moosa and Harun were truly tested with Pharaoh. But Allah was with them, hearing and seeing what was happening. Everything they did for His sake was counted for them, while everything Pharaoh did in rebellion was counted against him. In the end, after all the trials, it was the truth that prevailed.
And so you, too, may have all the tools you need. You might be a pious person. You could have full trust in God and that the work you are doing is for Him.
Yet you might still be afraid - and that is ok. As long as that fear is expressed to Allah, and as long as it doesn’t prevent you from doing what is right. Because when you do the right thing for Allah, He is with you too.
And that is all that matters.
