A faith filled with beauty

I was looking out at the sunset, and it was truly breathtaking. The wispy clouds, the colors both gentle and bold, and the hues melting into each other were just magical. Being before such beauty can be overwhelming.

What is striking is that it does not have to be this way. It did not need to be so stunning. The world could just be functional and dull. But Allah is Beautiful and loves beauty. And so there is beauty - there has to be - when we stop and look.

When we see an impressive painting, we marvel at the art, but we also wonder about the artist. We also form assumptions about them - how talented they are, perceptive perhaps, sensitive, intelligent even, depending on the painting.

The One who created the sunrises and the sunsets, the breezes and waves, the trees and the mountains, gave this world beauty and this reminds us of His beauty. And it reminds us too that this is nothing compared to Paradise.

And just like Allah did not have to create the world in this way, but He did because of who He is, we should perhaps ask ourselves: What beauty do we bring into the world? ? Do we just do the basics, at the most basic level? Or do we infuse everything that we do with beauty? Do our actions logically lead one to wonder about our faith?

May your days be beautiful.
